This client spotlight post is dedicated to Go Red for Women, an initiative of The American Heart Association!

Our Account Manager, Anja takes the lead here, discussing the mission of Go Red for Women, and how Digital Hyve has contributed to their marketing efforts.


What is their mission?

In 2004, the American Heart Association (AHA) faced a challenge. Cardiovascular disease claimed the lives of nearly 500,000 American women each year, yet women were not paying attention. In fact, many even dismissed it as an older man’s disease. To dispel the myths and raise awareness of heart disease & stroke as the number one killer of women, the American Heart Association created Go Red for Women, a passionate, emotional, social initiative designed to empower women to take charge of their heart health.

Go Red for Women has increased awareness around the issue of women and heart disease, resulting in action to save more lives. The movement harnesses the energy, passion, and power women have to band together and collectively wipe out heart disease.


What services do they provide?

Go Red for Women provides resources and support to women looking for more information on cardiovascular disease. The organization also provides an environment for community leaders and volunteers to celebrate the strength and passion that women throughout our community have.

Go Red for Women acts as a main funding source for the AHA. The AHA uses all revenues from local and National Go Red for Women activities to support awareness, research, education and community programs to benefit women.

These funds allow the AHA to help women by offering educational programs, advancing women’s understanding about their risk for heart disease and providing tools and motivation to help women reduce their risk to protect their health.


What makes them stand out in their industry?

1 in 3 women will be affected by cardiovascular related issues in their lifetime. Cardiovascular disease is  the number one killer of women in the United States, and Go Red for Women is making monumental strides in helping to change that statistic. Through fundraising initiatives, Go Red for Women has impacted women across the nation in many ways.

  • More than 2 million women have learned their personal risk of developing heart disease by taking the Go Red Heart CheckUp
  • More than 200,000 healthcare provider offices have received critical patient information on women and heart disease
  • More than 900,000 women have joined the fight. Women who join Go Red for Women receive important information that allows them to take action to improve their health:
    • Women involved in Go Red for Women eat a healthy diet.
    • Go Red women are more likely to follow their doctors’ advice – from losing weight to taking medications.
    • 91 percent of women involved in Go Red for Women visited their doctor in the last 12 months (compared to 73 percent of all U.S. women).
    • 64 percent follow a regular exercise routine.
    • 84 percent have talked to friends about their heart health.
    • 90 percent have had their blood pressure checked in the last year.
    • 75 percent have had their cholesterol checked in the last year.


What is one major thing they are doing right now?

Over the past year, CNY’s Go Red for Women branch had a goal of raising $400,000 to support research and awareness on women’s heart health issues. Through various fundraising efforts, including hand bag auctions, receptions, corporate donations and the Annual Go Red for Women Luncheon, the local team spent the last year working tenaciously to hit their goal.

On October 25, Digital Hyve attended the Annual Go Red For Women Luncheon. At this well attended event, with more than 650 Go Red for Women supporters, the local organization announced that they had hit their goal of $400,000 and have their eyes on an even larger goal for 2019!


How is the Digital Hyve incorporated into their marketing efforts?

Digital Hyve was a main partner for Go Red for Women this year! Our team created the branding elements and various event materials for four leading Go Red For Women events, including the Annual Luncheon. The team also attended all the events and made a contribution to the wonderful cause!
